Public Hearing
Drainage Charge Rate
A public hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at 10 a.m., at Austin City Hall, 301 West Second Street, Austin, Texas. The purpose of the hearing is to discuss the proposed change to the drainage charge as part of the Fiscal Year 2026-2027 proposed budget for Austin Watershed Protection. The proposed rate change increases the monthly Drainage Charge for the median residential customer from $14.05 to $14.92, which reflects an approximate 6.2% increase to the drainage charge. That is a monthly increase of about $0.88, or an annual increase of $10.56, for a median residential customer with 3,100 square feet of impervious cover and 37% impervious cover. The change for any given property will vary based on the amount and percent of impervious cover on each property. If approved by City Council, the new rate will be effective October 1 and will be reflected on November 2026 utility bills.
